This course will cover ‘Critical Thinking in Today's World’ and deals with themes such as conspiracy theories, fake news/ disinformation, bias, and the benefits of critical thinking. The course is designed to prepare you for the UNIcert^® III exam and covers all four skills. We will focus on your writing skills in particular and you will receive feedback on your writing. Assessment consists of a process writing essay, a presentation-response task, and an exam.
Students who pass the course may choose to take the UNIcert^® III exam. (NOTE: To take the UNIcert^® III exam students need to have completed courses comprising 8 SWS at C1 level)

This course is specifically designed for students who are interested in studying abroad, in English. To this end, course material related to themes such as student acculturation and new learning environments will be included. The focus will be on developing the four skills – speaking, writing, reading and listening – required for passing the IELTS examination and for successful study in English. Four pieces of writing will be expected (two descriptive reports and two argumentative essays), and relevant strategies will be covered in class. Students will also be asked to complete reading activities as homework to expand and review vocabulary and save valuable class time. IELTS-style tests in all four skill areas will determine final course grades.
