91035 The Language of Constitutions, Legislation and Case Law - BLENDED LEARNING
Constitutions, legislation and case law are the core sources of law in many modern legal systems. It is therefore critical that students and legal professionals have the right tools to navigate and discuss them, particularly when studying or practising in an international context.
This course will examine methods for interpreting and describing constitutions, legislation and case law. It will take a comparative approach, with a particular focus on England and Wales, the United States, Australia and Germany, including highlighting key similarities and differences and equipping students with useful practical skills and legal vocabulary. It will also involve critical discussion and analysis of fundamental constitutional principles at a time when they are being tested and debated in many parts of the world.
Students will prepare (as a home assignment) and give a short presentation on a topic relevant to the course. There will be a final examination covering reading, vocabulary and writing. The Leistungsnachweis will be awarded on the basis of regular and active participation and the course assessment.
As this is a blended-learning course, the tutor will contact you with details of which lessons will be face-to-face and which will be online.
Students of the Law Faculty will receive 5 BZQ II points for successful completion of this course.
